The New South Wales Government has announced a ban on all gambling advertising on public transport assets. This includes advertising on the inside and outside of trains, at train stations, and on other assets owned and controlled by Transport for NSW. This is a major development, as the NSW transport network has one of the largest portfolios of Train Advertising assets in Australia, including nearly 800 ad boards at Sydney train stations.

The government is working with its advertising contract holders to implement this change over the next 12 months. This ban is part of a broader set of reforms by the Minns Labor Government aimed at reducing gambling harm in the state. The move was welcomed by officials who expressed concern about the impact of gambling ads on children and families.
